The goal of yoga is joy

Instructors

Carol Barber

Instructor

Carol learned early, growing up in Southeast Asia, that everyone lives life differently.  Not until she started to study Anusara Yoga® in 2002, did she begin to understand that each of our bodies has its own “blueprint” or optimal physical alignment as well, and that we can each work within our own capabilities to approximate that alignment.  When our bodies are in better alignment we have better posture, but also our bodily systems (cardiac, respiratory, digestive, nervous, etc.) work more efficiently, and we can live life more easefully.  Carol earned her certification as an Anusara-inspired yoga teacher™ in 2006 from Todd Norian, Certified Anusara Yoga Teacher Trainer, and is registered with the Yoga Alliance at the 200-hour level.  Carol has also completed a 100-hour training with Marsha Wenig and YogaKids to become a Certified YogaKids Teacher.  Carol currently studies Eastern Philosophy with Douglas Brooks, Ph.D. at the University of Rochester.

Carol earned her Master’s degree in Audiology from the University of Virginia.  She has worked for over twenty-five years exclusively with children and those with developmental disabilities.  Being an audiologist at the University of Virginia’s Children’s Rehabilitation Center, St. Louis Children’s Hospital and most recently, the Dr. Gertrude Barber National Institute has developed Carol’s understanding of and ability to work with many challenged children and adults, including those on the autism spectrum, with ADHD, learning challenges and, certainly, with auditory issues.

Anusara Yoga® brought Carol more than an understanding of her body, it helped her to live life with more joy and confidence.  Anusara’s life affirming vision encourages all people to discover the intrinsic goodness and creativity within themselves, and Carol's goal is to infuse her classes with this philosophy.

Patricia Clutter

Instructor

Pat Clutter, RYT, first discovered yoga in some of her modern dance classes years ago but started studying it seriously in 2004.  Her studies led her to Ashtanga teacher trainings with Beryl Bender Birch where she has completed 105 hours training in the Astanga tradition.  She studied under Donna Dyer (Yoga H'om in Pittsburgh) and became Hatha certified in 2006.

Since then, Pat has taken workshops with various respected teachers such as Manouso Manos, Desiree Rumbaugh, Ray Long, Twee Merrigan,
Simon Park and Rodney Yee.  All these teachers have inspired her and influenced the way she teaches.

Deb Phillips

Instructor

Deb began her study of yoga in 1999 and quickly became engaged by the ancient practice.  She enrolled in teacher training with Michael Plasha and in early 2005, she received her certificate from Integral Yoga.  She teaches gentle yoga and beginner/continuing hatha classes at the Hamot Health Connection.  She studies with Dariel Woltz at Panterra Studio in Westfield, NY.

Deb believes in her yoga practices are a source of harmony in body, mind and spirit, and is thrilled to share the practice through her teaching.  As a third generation farmer, she feels that our deep connection to the Earth is a powerful source of strength and serenity.
